Mission

The Global Teach Ag Network (GTAN) empowers educators to address global food systems transformation. GTAN connects global experts, practitioners, organizations, and businesses to educators around the world and empowers educators to connect learners to the world’s most pressing issues through quality professional development in global agriculture and food security.

GTAN strives to foster a community and can do so through your help in promoting the following procedures in three focus areas:

Respect

Share

We ask that to maintain our community that all community members extend respect to all participants. In a multicultural, multilingual, and multisectoral diverse community, perspective can be very diverse, which is wonderful. Through intentional posting and engagement, we can preserve a friendly and respectful atmosphere. Please be sure to use clear language and make contributions that add to the conversations rather than take away from them. We want everyone to feel confident and encouraged to interact with the community! As you post comments, questions, and other great content, please keep the following in mind:

  • Keep your comments focused on the topic at hand
  • Do not use profanity, personal attacks or hate speech.
  • Do not promote a business or raise money.

We reserve the right to remove posts that do not follow these guidelines.

Have a question and want to ask a fellow member of the community? Be sure to use the following steps when thinking about your question and posting it to the appropriate audience:

  • Remember that your question might just be something that one or many people have been thinking! Be sure to ask one question at a time in clear and simple language, and in English if in a common space.
  • Look at the community space on Mighty and be sure to look through the current communities to see if your question fits one of the already formed spaces. If it does, proceed with your questions in that space! If not, you may ask the organizers for some advice or make a new group. Please be sure to conduct a thorough search through the preexisting groups to make sure that the group and question have not been already developed.
  • Post your question and monitor the post for feedback! If a response is posted, be sure to thank the respondent and promote a respectful exchange.

We ask that as you share your thoughts and ideas related to food security and global learning that you remember to avoid posting content that verbally or physically threatens violence or depicts harm to an individual or a group based on any of the following protected attributes:

  • Race
  • Ethnicity
  • National origin
  • Religion
  • Caste
  • Sexual orientation
  • Sex
  • Gender
  • Gender identity
  • Serious disease or disability
  • Immigration status

Content that dehumanizes or incites violence or hatred against individuals or groups, based on the attributes listed above, including but not limited to:

  • Claiming that they are physically or morally inferior
  • Calling for or justifying violence against them
  • Claiming that they are criminals
  • Referring negatively to them as animals, inanimate objects, or other non-human entities
  • Promoting or justifying exclusion, segregation, or discrimination against them

The following are frequently asked questions from our community members regarding our community guidelines.

How does GTAN identify content that violates Community Guidelines?

The GTAN internal team works together to monitor community posts, chats, and social media activity related to GTAN and supplemental program activity. We monitor daily and try our best to check on our platforms as regularly as we can to keep the community friendly, respectful, and substantive.

What action does GTAN take for content that violates Community Guidelines?

The GTAN internal team has identified a three-step approach to managing content within our community.

  1. Friendly reminder and removal of post
  1. Pause on community privileges
  1. Removal from GTAN
