a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Penn State, UIdaho, and 1890s institution students to cultivate their capacity in food security education with REAL experiences!

GOALs: Global Orientation to Agricultural Learning is a USDA HEC Funded project of the Global Teach Ag Network (GTAN) involving the University of Idaho, Penn State, 1890s Institutions, and The World Food Prize Foundation.

The Global Orientation to Agriculture Learning program (GOALs) is a unique professional development opportunity for pre-service agriculture educators to receive global teaching experience. As a member of the 2023-2024 GOALs cohort, you will be able to network with the nation’s biggest names in agriculture and food security, as well as develop professional teaching skills through a global-focus.

This program includes…

  • 3-credit course in the fall (virtual)
  • Immersion experience to the World Food Prize Foundation – Borlaug Dialogues in Des Moines, Iowa.
  • 3-credit course in the spring (virtual)
  • Spring teaching immersion experience
  • Engagement in virtual Global Teach Ag Network (GTAN)
  • Opportunity for growth – summer immersion experience in Belize
